Dallas Cowboys' Shiyazh Pete, a member of the Navajo Nation, displays quiet confidence as he begins his NFL journey. After signing as an undrafted rookie free agent post-2026 NFL Draft, Pete is poised to make an impact. The 6-foot-8, 310-pound offensive lineman's unique upbringing, moving between Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, has prepared him for the challenges ahead. Pete's collegiate experience includes walking on at New Mexico State and starting every game at Kentucky last season. His soft-spoken demeanor and emphasis on earning trust were notable during rookie minicamp. "To put on the star is surreal," Pete said, "But I have to earn that star."

They were taken from their homes. Forced into schools where their language was forbidden, their hair was cut, and their names were replaced with foreign ones.
The motto of those schools was devastating: "Kill the Indian, Save the Man." Native American children as young as 4 years old were separated from their families, sometimes never returning home. They were punished for speaking their own language. They were forbidden from practicing their traditions. They were told that everything about them was wrong.
This was not ancient history. The last of these boarding schools closed just decades ago. The trauma they created still lives in Native American families today โ€” passed down through generations in the form of pain, loss, and broken identity.
But here is what they could never take away โ€” the spirit.
Today, Native American children are reclaiming what was stolen. They are learning their languages again. They are dancing in their regalia again. They are hearing their grandparents' stories again. They are growing up knowing that their culture is not something to be ashamed of โ€” it is something to be celebrated.
Every Native American child deserves an education that honors who they are. Every classroom should be a place of pride, not erasure. Every Indigenous student should be able to walk through school doors knowing that their identity is welcome, their heritage is valued, and their future is bright.
The healing has begun. But it requires all of us to support it. ๐Ÿ”ดโค๏ธ
Should Native American culture and history be taught in every American school?
Yes โ€” every child deserves to know the truth! โค๏ธ

PRESIDIO RETURNS TO MUWEKMA OHLONE: SACRED LAND RESTORATION ๐ŸŒฟ
The Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of San Francisco Bay has sent a letter to the Trump administration asking for the government to restore the Presidio back to its tribe (CBS News) .
This is a historic moment for land justice.
The Presidio's true history:
The Muwekma Ohlone lived on this sacred land for thousands of years. Then it was taken. Military occupation. Federal control. Indigenous peoples erased.
Now the Muwekma Ohlone are reclaiming what's theirs.
Why this matters:
๐ŸŒ Sacred ancestral lands returned to Indigenous peoples
๐ŸŒ Tribal sovereignty and self-determination
๐ŸŒ Healing from centuries of displacement
๐ŸŒ Environmental stewardship by Indigenous leaders
๐ŸŒ Justice for the Original Peoples
The Muwekma Ohlone never stopped fighting. They never stopped believing.
Now they're demanding the return of the Presidioโ€”a symbol of resistance, resilience, and Indigenous power.
This is what land restoration looks like. This is tribal justice.
Support the Muwekma Ohlone. Demand return of tribal lands. Stand with Indigenous peoples.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS UNDER ATTACK: MUKILTEO CITY CUTS TRIBAL RECOGNITION โš ๏ธ
Mukilteo city council members narrowly passed a measure Monday to reduce the frequency of land acknowledgements before meetings. The council approved the plan with a 4-3 vote. Land acknowledgements will now be read monthly instead of before every meeting (Friends Committee On National Legislation) .
This is what disrespect looks like.
The significance:
Mukilteo is where the Point Elliott Treaty was signed in 1855. The agreement forced Native Americans onto reservations in exchange for hunting and fishing rights as settlers worked to systematically erase Native culture. The city's name itself is a Snohomish word, and it sits at the heart of Snohomish ancestral territory (Friends Committee On National Legislation) .
And now the city is ERASING tribal recognition.
Why this matters:
โšก Land acknowledgments honor Native peoples
โšก They show respect and empathy (Friends Committee On National Legislation)
โšก They acknowledge stolen territories
โšก They're the MINIMUM responsibility
โšก But now even that is being cut
**James Madison, a Native American who walks the shores of Mukilteo, said: "It shows respect. It shows empathy, and I believe America right now needs a lot of empathy." (Friends Committee On National Legislation) **
The Snohomish lived on this land for thousands of years. They deserve more than monthly acknowledgments. They deserve RESPECT. They deserve RECOGNITION.
Demand tribal respect. Support land acknowledgments. Stand with Native nations.

Feeling lost?
Go back to the land, the sky, the wind, and the silence.
In that quiet, youโ€™ll find the truth youโ€™ve been searching for โ€” yourself.

The Cherokee Nation became the first U.S. tribe to deposit traditional heirloom seeds in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, which is located on a remote Arctic island in Svalbard. This vault is often called the โ€œdoomsday seed bankโ€ because itโ€™s designed to protect the worldโ€™s crop diversity in case of disasters, climate change, or global crises.

To the Cherokee, these seeds are culturally significant crops that have been preserved and passed down by Cherokee people for generations. By storing them in Svalbard, the nation is protecting both biodiversity and Indigenous food heritage for the long term.

LAND BACK OR STAY SILENT? The Truth Indigenous Communities Need You to Hear ๐Ÿ”ฅ
They took 500+ million acres. Broke 500+ treaties. Displaced millions.
Now Indigenous nations are saying: ENOUGH.
From the Navajo Nation to the Lakota, from Standing Rock to the Cherokeeโ€”tribal leaders are asking YOU directly:
Should stolen Native lands be returned?
This isn't a history debate. This is HAPPENING NOW:
๐Ÿšจ Sacred burial grounds being destroyed for pipelines
๐Ÿšจ Mining companies on tribal territories
๐Ÿšจ Tribes fighting for basic sovereignty
๐Ÿšจ Generations still waiting for justice
The reality check:
โœ… Stolen land = stolen future
โœ… Broken treaties = broken trust
โœ… No accountability = no healing
โœ… But land restoration = real change
Indigenous peoples have protected these lands better than anyone else ever could. They know how. They've proven it.
So here's the question that matters:
Should stolen Native lands be returned to the people who belong there?
YES or NO? ๐Ÿ‘‡ COMMENT NOW. Tag someone who needs to hear this.
