Should you sell or renovate?

If you are debating this question then you probably love something about your home but also have good reason to consider moving.

If you are thinking of renovating, make sure that a renovation would actually solve all the issues that you have with your home. If not, it may be better to sell and buy a home that can cater to your needs.

If the cost of renovating your home doesn't help you build an adequate amount of equity in your home then it may not be worth it.

If you do end up wanting to sell though, you have to take the whole selling and buying process into account too. That takes time, money and you’ll want to make sure you’re prepared to invest both those things.

Lastly, compare the neighborhoods and school districts. If your neighborhood and school district are better than the place you’d want to move to, then you might want to renovate instead.

But did you know a lot of these search engines and apps list old properties that are not even on the market anymore? Some properties have not even been for sale recently at all! And estimated home values on these platforms can be off by a long shot at times.
