When buying a home, you might be tempted to ask the seller to lower the price. But here’s a smarter move — ask for a credit toward your closing costs instead! Here’s why:

🔹 More Money in Your Pocket NOW
Closing costs can add up fast — thousands of dollars! A seller credit helps you cover those costs upfront, so you don’t have to come up with as much cash at closing.

🔹 Smaller Price Drop = Smaller Benefit
Let’s say the seller lowers the price by $5,000. That might only save you $30–$40 a month on your mortgage. But if they give you that $5,000 as a credit, that’s $5,000 you don’t have to bring to the table at closing!

🔹 You Still Get the Same House
The price stays the same for the seller (which they like), but you get help with costs right when you need it most — at the start!

Bottom line:
🏠 Seller credits help you save cash upfront.
💵 Price reductions help a little over time.
