That Glow Isn't Just the Bulb.

Growth was found inside the glass globe of a ceiling light fixture at the front of the kitchen, visible right through the glass once the light is on.

Enclosed light fixtures trap warm, humid air with almost no airflow, especially in kitchens where cooking adds extra moisture to the room. Add in dust and debris that collect inside the globe over time, and it becomes a small, sealed environment that's easy for growth to take hold in, completely out of sight until the light's turned on.

It's a fixture almost nobody thinks to check, since it's assumed to just need a wipe-down or a new bulb.

Guest Bathroom Ceiling Vent
