Les Vinaigreries du Lion, a company founded in Lagny-sur-Marne in 1865 by Mr. Mathon passed into the hands of the Chamois family in 1890. It produced a quality vinegar, based on white alcohol. At the time, France was divided into two parts and the Loire served as a demarcation. The north of France found the raw material in beet while the south of France found in wine. The vinegar factory produced and delivered the serving vinegar to the preparation of Moutarde de Meaux® Pommery® for many decades. Moutarde de Meaux® history
Meaux is located 60km east of Paris. The capital of the Seine and Marne (77), the city has more than 50,000 inhabitants (the Meldois).

As early as 1771, we were able to identify mustard sets in Meaux who had taken over the torch at the Canons, on an industrial scale for the time. J.B. Pommery operated a millstone quarry alongside his mustard business. The secret of the Moutarde de Meaux® had been given to him from the Canons. In 1890 the Pommery family remained the only one to make mustard.
In 1925, manufacturing left the family to enter an era of modern production. Today the Moutarde de Meaux® Pommery® has kept the same recipe as by the past, its ingredients carefully selected for their qualities. This gives the product a quality that many have tried to copy. The quality of the sandstone used, the most natural material, but also its natural and unaggregated cork allows it to preserve itself and cross our planet in all directions.
