Big Week for Land Conservation in Volusia County!

We're thrilled to share not one, but TWO major conservation wins that closed this week — both made possible with the team at Maury L. Carter & Associates, Inc.

🔹 A new Volusia County record: an $8.4 million conservation easement on nearly 500 acres in DeLeon Springs — the highest price per acre ever paid for a conservation easement in the county. The land fronts Caraway Lake and Lake Dias and forms part of a critical wildlife corridor, while still allowing cattle grazing, tree farming, and prescribed burns. Daryl Carter, Joe Skinner and Robby Doyle represented the seller.

🔹 River Bend Ranch: 1,300 acres of stunning riverfront property in Osteen, sold to Volusia County for $20.1 million through the voter-approved Volusia Forever program. With over 2 miles of undeveloped St. Johns River frontage, this land now connects with the neighboring Deering Preserve to create a protected block of nearly 2,685 acres, safeguarding this land, and its wildlife, forever. Daryl Carter, Jonathan Clayton, and Robby Doyle represented the seller.

Together, these two deals mean thousands of acres of Florida's natural beauty — rivers, lakes, forests, and wildlife corridors — will never be lost to development. It's the kind of week that reminds us why this work matters.

Since 1989, Maury L. Carter & Associates has helped conserve more than 47,900 acres and $215 million worth of land across Florida, including over 6,700 acres just in Volusia County.

Carter & Associates is pleased to represent the seller in the transaction of 1,299 acres in Volusia County known as River Bend Ranch, permanently preserved for future generations. Nearly 1,300 acres in southern Volusia County are being permanently protected under a $20.1 million conservation deal preserving riverfront land, wetlands and wildlife habitat.

Carter & Associates, Inc. is proud to announce the record-breaking conservation easement sale of McMillon Creek Ranch, a historic purebred Beefmaster ranching operation on the shores of Lake Ashby in Volusia County. The easement was sold to Volusia Forever & the St. Johns River Water Management District, setting a county record for conservation easement transactions at $12,505 per acre.

Conrad is the grandson of company founder Maury L. Carter and the son of company President Daryl M. Carter. Like those who came before him, Conrad's interest in Florida land and real estate runs deep. He knew from a young age that this was the path he wanted to follow. After gaining valuable experience with respected firms on both the development and brokerage sides of the industry, Conrad joined Maury L. Carter & Associates in 2020.

Conrad has participated in over $350 million in transactions on more than 4,500 acres across the state. One of his most notable achievements was joining his dad in the historic sale of 2,400 acres ten minutes from Walt Disney World in Lake County for $165 million in 2024. This is one of the most significant land transactions in Central Florida history.
