Let's weigh the options! 🏠 Condos and townhouses traditionally were the first step in the rung to one’s forever home. Often smaller in size and price tag, these properties tended to be attractive to those looking to buy, often for the first time. Challenges facing this property type, including large special assessments and increasing reserve requirements, took these out of the running for a while. However, as many of those issues have been addressed on the whole, condos once again may offer the affordable first rung many need now. Take a look at this infographic, comparing single-family homes and townhouses and condos, focusing on median sale price and time to contract. At the statewide level, condos are offering prices in a much more affordable price point. However, the longer time to contract does reflect the somewhat lengthy process required for underwriting these properties. The number of new listings has come down considerably over the last several quarters but are still at healthy levels to give buyers options.
