ATTENTION & – IMPORTANT UPDATE
Big changes just announced from : Starting May 25, 2025, non-permanent U.S. residents will NO LONGER be eligible for FHA-insured loans.
That means if you're working with a client who is not a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident ( Holders), they must be under contract and have an FHA case number ordered by May 24th or they’ll lose eligibility for FHA financing.
This is is a major shift that impacts both how banks qualify borrowers and how we guide our clients through the process. HUD is emphasizing that lenders must verify ☆ lawful permanent residency ☆ and just having a number is not enough.
This move is aimed at aligning with current federal policy that prioritizes FHA access for citizens and green card holders only.
