🏡 A major win for homeowners, housing flexibility, and REALTOR® advocacy in Volusia County!
Volusia County’s new ADU impact fee ordinance, Ordinance 2026-07, changes how impact fees are calculated for Accessory Dwelling Units. Instead of treating an ADU as a separate residence, the County will calculate fees based on the increase in the home’s total square footage.
This update can help:
✅ Lower upfront development costs
✅ Make it more affordable to add living space for family members
✅ Expand attainable and flexible housing options
✅ Increase property functionality and value
✅ Support homeownership and future housing inventory
The revised calculation applies to impact fees for Fire Rescue, Thoroughfare Roads, Parks, and Emergency Medical Services.
This is meaningful progress for Volusia County homeowners and another example of REALTOR® advocacy helping shape practical housing solutions for our community.
We look forward to continuing conversations with cities throughout Southeast Volusia County to explore additional ways we can work together to expand affordable and attainable housing opportunities.
