Interesting issues are involved. FHA requires real estate professionals to adhere to guidelines that hopefully prevent discrimination. Redfin has legitimate concerns regarding its business expenses.

The group claims a “minimum price policy” business practice by Redfin benefits higher-income neighborhoods more than lower-income neighborhoods. Redfin denies the charges for “legitimate business reasons” but says it’s struggled with the issues raised.

There's still time to refinance and avoid the upcoming .5% surcharge.

After Sept. 1, owners who refinanced would have been charged a 0.5% surcharge if Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac would be taking over the loan. The surcharge will still go into effect but not until Dec. 1 – and refi loans less than $125K won’t be charged the fee at all.

Real estate prices haven't been much affected by the Covid pandemic, so far. Home equity, great interest rates and the lack of homes for sale are keeping prices steady.

The real estate market dipped during stay-at-home orders, though it still looks as if many deals were postponed rather than cancelled. What happens next? COVID-19’s resilience remains a big unknown, but it still seems as if market strength will return sooner rather than later.

Overall, Florida is not expecting much of a decline in the sales price of properties any time soon. A lack of homes for sale, coupled with relatively slow new home starts, has kept the inventory low.

In 2008, Fla. had too many new homes; but in early 2020, there were too few. Even if buyer demand falls slightly, a still-low supply will likely push home prices higher.
