Slow progress on the Church St Renovation.

Picture drop because it has been a year to the day since my last update.
Walls are up, ceilings are sanded and finished. As I refinish some of the original doors, they are going back up as well. The biggest sliding door came from a downtown business in Brandon that was renovating. It was a custom fit for my space and it’s not in a dumpster now. We are trying to reuse anything that came out of the house during the teardown. The sanded and cleaned wood is stunning.  We’ve exposed every beam that possibly could be saved and seen.
Sheet rock and spackling is next and then we begin the outside  with warmer weather. We’ve had a brutal winter this year.

Update. The start of the new addition (south wing) is now sitting on full basement with poured walls and floor. No one will have to crawl around on their hands or hit their head Again when they work in this basement. The guys are working fast and I’m having a hard time keeping up.

The drawing is a guide and changes often.

A lot of sanding is in my future.

Update.
No we did not tear down the post and beam southern exposure room. Just moved it for a while as Chris digs out a fully functional basement to house all the mechanical.
I had a slight heart attack myself when I saw all those gorgeous beams missing. But I promise they are safe and going back up. Up an additional 2 feet of extra headroom. Here are my floorplan options for the upstairs. I’m just giving my re-builder options for what is possible.

This was an addition we thought we were tearing down. Not any more! Look at those beams. And now I have cathedral ceiling as well. I think what was going to be a master bedroom suite is now going to be the kitchen and the main gathering area of the house. Here is the before and after.

New year, new house project.
Another old house located in Orwell, VT. Another house in need of extreme TLC.
We started this project back in March 2023, Hopefully will have it complete in 2025.

SOLD! Today we passed this old house on to its new owner.
I wish them a happy home
and a warm welcome to Orwell!
Now on to our next project.
