This Bridge you see here opened up to the public in September of 2013, Built by American Bridge using an innovative Alternate Technical Concept (ATC) that saved costs and reduced construction time as it carries Missouri Route 5 Highway and was built using an innovative design-build process with a span of 436ft and 44ft of clearance to pass under. This Bridge is still the Heart of Sunrise Beach
“The West Side” of the lake as it replaced the Original Bridge that most folks remember well…

~Original Bridge (1936-2013)~
The Original Hurricane Deck Bridge was a historic steel truss bridge built in 1936 over the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, known for its unique "upside-down" design with the truss below the roadway for clear views, and was considered the most beautiful bridge of its type in 1936. Was a steel deck truss bridge with a unique design where the support structure was below the road.
Built by the Stupp Brothers Bridge and Iron Co., it was a major engineering feat for its time, with piers resting on bedrock in the lake and named the most beautiful bridge of its type built in 1936 by the American Institute of Steel Construction.

The Grand Glaize Bridge in Osage Beach, Missouri, is a landmark crossing U.S. Route 54 over the Lake of the Ozark. 🛣️

Originally built in the 1930s, the historic structure was replaced by a new bridge in the 1990s, but the name remains iconic for the area and Spans the Grand Glaize Arm of our Lake. 🌅

The original bridge was a cantilevered deck truss, sometimes called the "Upside Down Bridge," with trusses built underneath the roadway. 🌉
