Have you just completed building a new home or major improvements? Or are you planning to? Oskaloosa offers a 10-year, 100% tax abatement on the added value of qualifying residential projects. That means you pay no city property taxes on the increase in value for 10 years. (You will still pay taxes on your original property value and school district taxes on the increased value.)

Eligible Projects:
✔ New residential construction
✔ Additions
✔ Major renovations that increase property value by at least 15%

Key Details:
- Applies citywide for residential properties
- School district taxes are excluded for applications submitted on or after July 1, 2024
- Applications must be filed with the City Clerk between January 1 and January 31 of the year improvements appear on the assessor’s roll
