When two corners of Big Sky Country unite under one shared belief: land is kin.

We are incredibly proud to announce our new series where we introduce our Farm Market’s vendors.

We are excited to kick it off with Old Salt Co-op and their rancher-raised meats and fire-cooked integrity!

From the rich soils of the Blackfoot River Valley to the wild Montana rangelands, Old Salt Co-op is diving deep into what it truly means to honor our local food systems and build a resilient community from the ground up.

We are honored to have Old Salt Co-op, our vendors, and all of you with us as we do this work in our MT communities together.

Thanks for being here, stop by while on the highway 200 corridor and support local ag and food efforts at Orion Farm Markets!

The morning stampede 🐓

We are in the heart of carnivore country, which means our chickens get electric fencing in the evening while they rest.

Every morning we turn it off and release them, safe to say they know the routine and have a healthy run of the place!

Our coop is large, it allows easy access for us and the chickens. We line the coop with straw and provide water feeders throughout the area.

Our coop is a great example of the re-used structures on Orion. We removed A LOT of trash, fixed the siding, and the roof then took the pre-existing structure and built in features to provide the chickens with what they needed to live well.

Love hearing the rooster crow!

As the seasons turn, the fields slowly trade their green for amber and gold.

Harvest arrives as both a gathering and a gratitude: a reminder of the long days, the changing skies, and the quiet work of the land. There has been many changes here at Orion as the year has progressed.

Now we get to see the fruits of our harvest and enjoy them (with some goodies from our farm market too)!

We are thankful for this beautiful rhythm and watching all that get to enjoy a slice of it.

We have some great new food and locally crafted items in the Farm Market.

W**e caps are tasty and versatile mushroom, cook and eat similar to a button mushroom. Grown right here on Orion using North Spore spawn.

Our chickens are laying regularly, which means more eggs for you.

We now have Wild Wanders crafted goods in the stand. Currently we are carrying their Sun Salve and Orion Hydrosol.

We have some garlic braids left and the bulbs are BIG!

Stop by, grab some good food, and say Hi.

We spent the afternoon trying our hands at garlic braiding, and it may be our new favorite tradition.

Turns out, weaving local flowers and fresh herbs into these braids isn’t just a beautiful kitchen DIY. It’s a 4,000-year-old blend of art, medicine, protection, and form of preservation with the most fascinating history.

Did you know ancient Olympic athletes ate raw garlic as a pre-workout?! neither did we.

swipe through to see what we learned, and make sure to check out the amazing braids waiting for you in the Orion farm market stand!

We’ve got signs, fresh eggs, and cold drinks! Our sunflowers are popping too 🌻

Our rural farm markets are critical community lifelines, cutting out corporate supply chains to bring fresh, nutrient-dense food straight to your table.

Unlike grocery store produce that is picked green and shipped thousands of miles, our harvests mature under the sun for peak vitamins and flavor. By bypassing wholesale channels, your support keeps 100% of the financial value directly in the local economy, helping multi-generational farms thrive and protecting our agricultural landscapes from suburban development.

🚜🌾In isolated or underserved areas, these roadside stands also bridge the gap in food security by acting as accessible hubs for fresh, heirloom varieties you won’t find anywhere else.

They offer radical transparency, letting you connect directly with the growers to know exactly how your food was raised.

More than just a place to buy groceries, the farm stand is a community gathering space built on trust and a shared pride in local land stewardship.

Pull over, support local, and taste the difference! 🐓 ☀️
