ROYALS UDDATE!! I just left the 2026 KCRAR Commercial Forecast event, and wow — Kansas City is on an incredible trajectory.

Let’s start with what everyone wants to talk about… The Royals! Still nobody “really knows” but… The proposed Downtown Washington Square Park site has a lot going for it — 20,000+ parking spaces already in place, central access from multiple highways, and proximity to so many of the city’s greatest assets. That said, Overland Park is still my #1 pick for a potential stadium location. It has unmatched access, growth, and momentum. Although it’s my opinion, I feel as if this would sell a lot of season tickets for businesses, and I could see this being a great place to utilize for professional meetings. Downtown KC sits at #2, and North KC drops to a distant #3 — simply because of its limited entry points.

Beyond baseball, the overall tone of the event was incredibly positive and forward-thinking.
We covered major development momentum across the metro:
🏗 Lenexa – nearly $2.6 billion in new development from 2020–2024, booming around City Center
🚙The Aspiria Campus, with eight+ major projects underway.
🏙 Platte County – major growth from the KC Current Soccer Facility, the new Live Nation Amphitheater (30+ concerts a year!), Twin Creeks mixed-use projects, and large-scale industrial development like the KCI 29 Logistics Park.
🏗 Lee’s Summit – continued expansion and strong economic development leadership driving job creation and new corporate investment. The rise and Development since 2019 has been astronomical in comparison to the past trajectory of where they were at,  they have had 34 recent projects that have been approved by the city council, a monstrous shift forward.

One fascinating topic that came up — and one we’ll all be dealing with in the coming years — is power consumption. Everyone agreed that energy demand is going to be one of the defining challenges of our next growth phase.

I also asked about traffic issues around 119th & Nall to College Blvd, and the conversation quickly turned to self-driving vehicles like Waymo, already thriving in Phoenix and Austin — efficient, safe, and genuinely enjoyable.

All in all, it was one of the most energizing and insightful CRE forecast events I’ve attended. Great speakers, great data, and an even better room full of passionate people moving Kansas City forward.

The future here isn’t just bright — it’s booming. 🚀
