🏡 What’s happening with new construction in Kansas City?

If building a new home is on your radar, here’s an interesting look at where the market stands.

According to a recent Stacker article, Kansas City issued 398 building permits in January 2026, compared with 740 in January 2025.

But that’s only part of the story. New construction activity can vary significantly month to month, and the article points to a bigger issue: housing construction still hasn’t fully caught up with demand.
