Trees Speak - Mind Maze

Trees Speak are easily one of the hardest working groups in modern psychedelia. In just five years, the Arizona duo have released five studio albums, swiftly becoming one of the leading lights in non-reissue roster in the process. Whilst many kosmische groups turn to ambient stargazing and lengthy motorik jams, Trees Speak instead offer minute instrumental motifs, with each of its nineteen tracks probing an unworn sound.

‘Mind Maze’ hears the Diaz brothers at their most wide-ranging, pulling from experimental rock, post-punk, electronic, soundtracks, and oddball new wave. ‘Sospetto’ and ‘Minotaur’ supplement Portishead-esque noir trip hop with a driving pulse, ‘Illusions’ pairs library funk with Radiophonic apparitions, ‘Seraphim’ plucks its organs from textbook late 60s acid rock, whilst closing track ‘Machines Speak’ sounds as if Kraftwerk’s gadgets took on a mind of their own. We already can’t wait to see which musical left-turns Trees Speak will take us down next.
