Kansas sky update ☀️

This is a solar halo — caused by sunlight passing through ice crystals high in the atmosphere.

Meteorologists: “What a fascinating optical phenomenon.”

Kansans: “So… baseball-sized hail or tornadoes?” 🤷🏼‍♀️😬😂

Salina did the most Salina thing possible — the storm split around us and the “larger than baseball sized hail” never showed up 🙌😂

We did get some quarter-sized hail, maybe a little bigger, but thankfully that was the worst of it!

But you just know if we had trusted the classic “it never hits Salina” instinct and left the truck out, that would’ve been the storm with the large sized hail…and that’s how we ended up in this predicament anyways 🤣

Instead, we parked the boat between the two houses and basically put the truck on the front porch like completely rational Kansans 😜😂

So… you’re welcome, Salina. Our dramatic storm prep clearly scared the hail away 🙌

On to the next storm and the great debate on if it’s going to be worth juggling around the vehicles again 🤪😂

Today’s reminder that in Kansas, covered parking is officially a luxury feature. 😂⛈️

We’re out here trying to protect the truck from more hail to the already cracked windshield with a front porch setup that looks questionable at best.😅 Also moved our boat in between our house and the neighbors with the hope it will help block the hail somewhat anyways. 😂

What’s everyone else doing to keep their vehicles safe during today’s storms?

Asking for myself… and those future house hunters suddenly adding “3-car garage” to their must-have list. 🏡
