🏫 OCPS Property Tax Renewal Will Be on the November Ballot

Orange County voters will decide in November whether to continue the existing "one mill property tax" that supports Orange County Public Schools.

But what does “one mill” mean? A mill is a property tax rate equal to $1 for every $1,000 of a property’s taxable value. For example, a home with a taxable value of $300,000 would pay about $300 per year for a one mill tax.

The tax generates an estimated $255 million annually and helps fund about 2,000 teaching positions, along with arts, athletics, and other student programs. OCPS says this is a continuation of the existing tax, not an increase.

For Central Florida homeowners and families, it is an important local issue to watch as the November 3 election approaches.
