Our story begins with the early years of Pahrump, when my father, Wayne Leavitt, Wayne, his father Jake and his grandfather Christopher Lister, lived on the Leavitt family farm in Bunkerville, as a very young man, Wayne left Bunkerville to work in the kilns in the mountains right here above Pahrump and toiled away in the fields as well, contributing to the growth and progress of this town. He me
t and married my mother, Shirley McGuire, later known as Shirley Leavitt. She lives here in Pahrump to this day. Her sister Laura McCullough added to our family's legacy in unique ways. My Aunt Laura was an incredibly devoted and compassionate woman. As a lifeguard and fierce advocate, she played a significant role in the establishment of the Pahrump Arena, forever leaving her mark on our community. Her passing has left an irreplaceable void, and we strive to continue her good work. Drawing from this rich and fruitful lineage, I am proud to say that my daughter Richayne Jenkins and I continue the Leavitt family legacy in Pahrump through our successful partnership in business and the arts. With my Realty business and her behind-the-scenes assistance, we work together to help others find their ideal homes and thrive in this town which we so dearly cherish. My daughter's extraordinary talent as an artist has added a vibrant touch to Pahrump as well, she has been known to win major accolades at the art shows, and to just rehab a tired piece of wood. She has just started her Par & Paint events at Lakeview Executive Golf Course. Check the Lakeview schedule for the next one. This is where the tables turn, and I become the assistant. Our shared passion for Pahrump runs deep, extending to cherished traditions such as attending the Pahrump Fall Festival. Where I learned to ride a horse and swam in the pool on the day it first opened. We have rented 2 booths every year at the Fall Festival since the day I opened my business. This year 2023 I and my daughter are opening our booth to all Local Artisans of Pahrump. We are also having a fun night for a paint battle (all are welcome.) When I go to these events in Petrack Park, I walk around and think of my Aunt Laura, and her dedication can still be seen today at the Pahrump Arena named in her honor, reflecting our family's deep-rooted influence and commitment to our community. I am honored to have the opportunity to both contribute to and uphold the proud legacy of our community here in Pahrump. To the generations that have come before us and those yet to come, we are eternally grateful. Together, we look forward with optimism, pride, and determination, inspired by our shared past to continue building a future that befits the name and spirit of Pahrump and what it has meant to our family.
