Mortgage rates moved sideways this week, bouncing off recent peaks after solid demand for U.S. 10-year Treasuries helped stabilize the bond market.

While international pressures—especially rising European borrowing costs—continue to create crosswinds, domestic buyers stepped up at current yields. More importantly: market odds of a Fed rate hike at the late October meeting sit near 20%. The Fed is in "wait-and-see" mode ahead of their upcoming quiet period.

What to watch next week:

Inflation: September CPI & PPI (the Fed’s primary focus)

Consumer Strength: September Retail Sales

Housing Activity: Existing Home Sales

In this environment, waiting on sideline speculation often carries higher risk than taking action. Smart buying is about having the autonomy to choose the right property, negotiate terms, and structure financing with room to adapt down the road.

Let’s say someone contacts you unexpectedly and says you have to pay to fix a problem, get a prize, or something else. But then they say the only way to pay is by bank transfer, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, payment app, or gift card. Well, reports to the FTC show that’s a scam.
