Happy Juneteenth, Anderson County! 🇺🇸

June 19, 1865 — Galveston, Texas — the news of freedom finally reached those who had been enslaved. It's the oldest Juneteenth celebration in the nation, and it started right here in Texas.

Today we honor that history and the people who lived it.

Monday title tip: What is a release of lien — and why does it matter? 🔗

When a mortgage is paid off, the lender is supposed to file a "release of lien" in the county records. Sometimes they don't — or they file it in the wrong county, or with errors.

Unreleased liens show up in our title search and stop closings cold — unless we fix them.
