🌠 A reason to stay up late tonight!

The Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight into tomorrow morning, right under a new moon. That means dark skies and some of the best viewing conditions we've seen in years!

📍 Get away from city lights if you can. Out here around Lake Palestine, we're lucky to have some of the darkest skies in East Texas.
🕐 Best time: after midnight through dawn, peaking between 2 and 6 AM.
✨ Up to 100 meteors an hour under dark skies.

No telescope needed, just your eyes. Give them 30 minutes to adjust to the dark.

This kind of clear, moon free sky for the Perseids won't happen again until 2045! One more reason to love calling this area home.

Stanley's is building a burger bar!!

The folks at Stanley's Famous are putting up a smash burger and bar spot at 519 South Beckham, right next door to the original. It's about 1,500 square feet. Construction starts in September and they're looking at a February 2027 opening, so it's a while out, but I'm already deciding what I'm ordering.

Tyler keeps adding good reasons to make the drive over from the lake. That's part of what I tell buyers who worry Lake Palestine feels too far from everything. You're 30 minutes from some of the best barbecue in Texas!! Stanley's Famous Pit Barbecue
