Happy 12th Birthday to this old dog who still acts just like a puppy when a boat and ball are involved! We took him out on the lake today, threw the ball hundreds of times, and took him for a ride so the wind would flow through his ears.

Are you looking to replace your income? Are you looking for a long term investment that doubles your money over time?

When we started investing in real estate, we were shocked at the number and variety of deals out there.

It really helped to know exactly WHY we were investing, and what we were hoping to get out of our investments so that we could look at deals that helped us meet our goals and filter out those that didn’t.

So we ask you… are you investing for cash flow, appreciation, or (our favorite) a combo of the two??

3 kids, 1 dog, & 2 adults in approximately 200 square feet.

If it seems like there isn’t a lot of space for quiet, you’re right. It’s generally before the kids wake up (Tim’s best work time) or after they fall asleep (these days this is MY me time).

When they are awake we are constantly on the go- someone always needs something, or I’m juggling the cleaning up and keeping them occupied while also trying to make sure Tim can get some work done.

It’s all part of having kids, and making the life changes necessary to live the life we dream of- instead of getting stuck in the “dreaming but never doing” mentality.

Good thing I tend to latch onto an idea I love and then jump in feet first- we’ve managed a lot of adventures because I was bound and determined and Tim was on board with a little research.

We ended up spending 23 weeks on the road in our camper the first 13 months we owned it.

And we keep going. Keep exploring, keep stretching ourselves in new ways to make our dreams come true.

Curious how we financially managed it?

One of our (not so secret) secrets is Multifamily Real Estate Syndications to create a passive income allowing us not to be tied down to a desk.

I want out of my job but I have bills to pay!

Sound familiar?

I get it, I once spent an entire month coming home each day asking Tim if I could quit my job.

He would then hand me a big piece of Carvel ice cream cake with extra crunchies and told me that I needed to stick with it.

In that case he was right, and a year later I transitioned into a position that I LOVED. It was worth it in that case, but if your dream is to get out of your job entirely and make a shift, this article may give you some suggestions for how to start.

This is my morning view today…

It’s crowded and there is a massive wagon of laundry to fold, and I love it.

Managing to cram our family of 5 + dog into these 200 square feet for a month at a time poses some challenges: like what do we REALLY need, how will Tim & I balance work with spending time with the kids, and where do we need to be to make sure we have a functioning internet connection.

But those challenges are completely worth it- we get to travel with our kids, see things that we’ve always wanted to, find hidden treasures in places we never expected to, and create a massive amount of memories.

It certainly isn’t easy, but it has always been worth it for us. And we are grateful that our passive income streams have helped us to be able to fund our adventures.

Do we still work? Yes
Does our passive income make it easier for us to travel without the stresses of working a 9-5 holding us back? Also yes

It’s not that investing in the stock market is a bad idea, just that it’s not the only one!

In fact, I believe it’s a good jumping off point when saving for retirement because historically it rises over a long period of time.

However, I don’t want to ride the roller coaster of the stock market day to day when I’m looking for cash flow, recession resistant investments, or trying to really grow my wealth.

With the stock market, I feel like it could be there one moment, gone the next.

And so we have diversified our investments- we are in lots of different things including the stock market and real estate investments (both passively and actively).

Drop a 💥below if you agree and let us know your first investment outside of the stock market.

What’s your dream job?

Before kids, mine was to be a stay at home dog-mom. 🤣

These days- it’s to work because I enjoy it, not for the paycheck… which for me means volunteering at my kids’ school, and helping others learn about passive investing.

Which is why passive real rate investments are so great for our family- it’s a PASSIVE (read not time intensive) investment that feels more stable than the roller coaster of a stock market we are in right now. Everyone needs a place to live and being able to point to something and say “I own a piece of that” is important to me.

“Wait- the owner lives in China?!”

That was my first reaction upon hearing that the owner of the rental we were looking at was living outside of the country.

Mainly because it hadn’t occurred to me that people outside the US were interested in investing in real estate.

Luckily for us, an investor from a foreign country had decided to invest in real estate that met our family’s needs.

And with a bit of research and some more experience under our belts, we learned that there are plenty of foreign investors who are interested in US real estate.

If you are from another country and interested in investing in real estate, then this article is an excellent jumping-off point for you!
