There are ordinary real estate transactions, and then there's ... this. Sad story. Homeowner falls ill (in more ways than one) and her house slowly falls down around her. She eventually passes - without a will. Survivors, who live in New England, thereby inherit a house from a sibling with whom they had no meaningful relationship. AC dead, pool is pea soup, water damage throughout, belongings strewn about everywhere. Huge donation of salvageable furniture and clothing to Breast Cancer Foundation. Remaining items removed by a junk removal company. Sketchy rehabbers come out of the woodwork, most looking to steal the house, but we finally settle in with a legit buyer who (thankfully) stays the course. Weeks waiting for the probate court to bless the sale, with little feedback as to what we're waiting for. But yesterday, after 15 weeks of collective effort, I got it closed. Whew!
