7 things we can legally hide from you... (shh, don’t tell)Okay, “hide” is a strong word. Let’s call it strategically keeping to ourselves.

As real estate agents, we have to tell you if the roof is leaking, but we don’t have to tell you about the neighborhood drama.

Here are 7 things your seller is totally allowed to keep secret:

Ghosts. If the house is haunted, that’s between the seller and the ghost.
The “Why.” Divorce? New job? Winning the lottery? Their reason for moving is classified.
Canceled Deals. If the last buyer backed out because their psychic told them to, you won’t hear it from us.
Grim History. In most states, past deaths in the home don’t have to be volunteered.
The Neighborhood Karen. Loud dogs or annoying neighbors? That’s a “you” discovery.
Nearby Crime. Neighborhood safety stats are public, so the research is on your plate.
Registered Offenders. The state keeps the list, but your agents don’t have to hand it over.
