Don’t let the chill catch you off guard! Take time now to ensure your HVAC heating and emergency heating modes are ready to handle the cold front. Here’s a quick checklist to help:

1️⃣ Test your HVAC heating mode:
Switch your system to heat and let it run. If it doesn’t warm up or you hear unusual sounds, call for maintenance.

2️⃣ Check the emergency heating mode:
For heat pump systems, make sure the emergency heat (backup heating) is functional. This is a lifesaver during extreme cold when your heat pump struggles.

3️⃣ Replace air filters:
Clean filters keep your system running efficiently and improve air quality. Replace them regularly to avoid extra strain on your unit.

4️⃣ Inspect vents and ducts:
Ensure vents are open and unobstructed for proper airflow. Seal any leaks in ductwork to keep the heat where it belongs.

5️⃣ Have a backup plan:
Keep space heaters, blankets, and firewood (if you have a fireplace) ready in case of power outages or HVAC issues.

Check your system now to make sure you stay warm all season long! ❄️🔥

A quick look now could save you a lot of trouble later! Take action to protect your home and stay ahead of the storm.

Don't ignore that wobbling toilet! 🚽💦

Replacing your toilet's wax seal is essential to prevent water leaks and avoid costly damage. A simple DIY fix can keep your bathroom dry and odor-free.

Keep an eye out for signs like leaks or sewer smell!

Changing the wax seal on your toilet can be a straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. **Turn off the water supply:** Locate the shutoff valve near the base of the toilet and turn it off. Flush the toilet to drain as much water as possible.

2. **Disconnect the water supply line:** Use an adjustable wrench to disconnect the water supply line from the toilet tank.

3. **Remove the toilet:** Unscrew the bolts at the base of the toilet. Rock the toilet gently to break the seal and lift it off the fl**ge. Place the toilet on an old towel or blanket.

4. **Remove the old wax seal:** Scrape off the old wax seal from the fl**ge and the bottom of the toilet using a putty knife.

5. **Check the fl**ge:** Ensure the toilet fl**ge is in good condition. Replace it if it's damaged or corroded.

6. **Install the new wax seal:** Place the new wax seal onto the toilet fl**ge or the bottom of the toilet, ensuring it's centered.

7. **Reposition the toilet:** Carefully lower the toilet onto the fl**ge, aligning the bolts with the holes in the base. Press down firmly to compress the wax seal and create a watertight seal.

8. **Secure the toilet:** Tighten the bolts at the base of the toilet, alternating between them to ensure even pressure. Be careful not to overtighten, as this can crack the porcelain.

9. **Reconnect the water supply line:** Reattach the water supply line to the toilet tank and turn the shutoff valve back on.

10. **Test for leaks:** Flush the toilet several times and check for any signs of leakage around the base.

Changing your wax seal can be a messy process so if you are unsure of doing this yourself, do not be afraid to call your local handyman or plumber!

Thinking about selling your home? Ensuring your showers and windows are properly caulked can make a big difference. Here are some tips to get you started:

1. **Choose the Right Caulk:** Use a high-quality silicone or latex caulk designed for bathrooms and windows to ensure durability and resistance to moisture.

2. **Prep the Area:** Clean the surfaces thoroughly to remove any old caulk, dirt, or mold. Use a caulk remover tool for best results.

3. **Tape for Clean Lines:** Apply painter's tape on either side of the area to be caulked. This will help you achieve straight, clean lines and avoid messy edges.

4. **Cut the Caulk Tube at an Angle:** Cut the tip of the caulk tube at a 45-degree angle for better control and smoother application.

5. **Apply Even Pressure:** When applying the caulk, use a consistent pressure to ensure an even bead. Smooth the caulk with a wet finger or a caulk smoothing tool.

6. **Clean Up Excess:** Before the caulk dries, remove the painter’s tape and clean up any excess caulk for a professional finish.

7. **Allow Proper Drying Time:** Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying time to ensure the caulk sets properly.

Taking these simple steps can help make your home look well-maintained and more appealing to potential buyers. Happy selling! 🏡✨

With the hottest part of the year coming around the corner, you want your HVAC system to be at its peak performace. To assist with that, it is recommended that you change your filter preferably once a month. To pair with this, pouring a cup of bleach or vinegar down your condensation line to clear any unwanted debris will help your HVAC system run smooth so that you stay cool in the hot months ahead!

To pour your bleach or vinegar into condensation line, simply lift up the Safe-T switch located on your air handler and pour in your cleaner.
