Friday Facts!

Meet Topaz, Blue, Scotty and Cheeky. These handsome fellas are one-of-a-kind here at the sanctuary.

Topaz is a Vervet Monkey. Vervet monkeys are thought to have up to 30 different alarm calls. They are primarily herbivores living mostly on wild fruits, flowers, leaves and seeds in the wild.

Blue is a Spider Monkey. Spider monkeys are known for their long limbs, prehensile tails, and hook-like hands. They were named spider monkeys because they look like spiders as they hang upside down from their tails with their arms and legs dangling.

Scotty is a Hamadryas Baboon. Hamadryas baboons are large-bodied monkeys with a strong build and a dog-like muzzle. They are diurnal, meaning that they are active during the day.

Cheeky is a Bonnet Macaque. Bonnet Macaques are grey-brown monkeys with wrinkly faces, large ears and a comical mop of center-parted hair on their heads.They are also diurnal and spend the majority of their days on the ground despite their impressive climbing skills.

Be sure to stop by the small primate area of the sanctuary and visit these handsome guys. Dont forget to scan the QR code in front of their enclosures to learn a little bit more about their story.
