The State of Florida has mandated that ALL homeowners insurance policy holders with Citizens Ins. must get a flood insurance policy.

For those in a FEMA-designated flood zone, all new policies must have it and all policy renewals after July 1, 2023 must get it.

For those NOT in flood zones, it depends on your property value:

January 1, 2024, for property valued at $600,000 or more.

January 1, 2025, for property valued at $$500,000 or more.

January 1, 2026, for property valued at $400,000 or more.

January 1, 2027, for all other personal lines residential property insured by Citizens

A bill out of last year’s legislative special session requires all Citizen’s residential policies to also have flood insurance in phases starting this month to January 1, 2027.
