Turning a Potential $9K Problem into a $2K Solution
When the community fountain stopped working, concerns escalated quickly. Low water levels raised fears of a potential pond leakāsomething that could have required a costly diagnostic study in the thousands.
The Challenge
The fountain was completely down, and the community faced two big questions:
⢠Is there a leak?
⢠How much will this cost to fix?
The Approach
A vendor proposed a $9,000 replacement, and understandably, the board wanted to act fast. Instead of immediately pursuing the expense, our Community Manager coordinated with a trusted landscaping partner who also specializes in pump repairs.
What We Found
It wasnāt a leakāit was an electrical issue affecting the water fill system. Once resolved, water levels returned to normal.
The Solution
We worked with the board to pause, reassess, and explore alternatives. By leveraging trusted vendor relationships, our Community Manager secured a second evaluation.
The Result
ā
Fountain restored
ā
~$7,000 saved
ā
Improved, more cost-effective maintenance plan
The Takeaway
Quick action mattersābut smart, strategic decisions matter more. By taking the time to evaluate the right solution, we avoided unnecessary costs and delivered a better long-term outcome for the community.
