Blessing Baskets 2026!!! This is a Mat-Su Valley community initiative. Each basket is sponsored by an individual or family and includes non-perishable items for families in our community to have a proper Thanksgiving meal.

Baskets will be dropped off the week before Thanksgiving at Borealis Bison Barns on Wednesday November 18th from 5-7pm. We will then deliver to identified families in need.

I shouldn’t have generalized “Alaska” because costs of groceries in the villages here are insanely higher than we see in Southcentral.

I’m going to have to do a more robust share next time because the thing that shocks me the most is the produce and that it’s $8 for a pack of raspberries that are on the verge of molding the next day.

We save alot of money by shopping at Costco and Walmart and we don’t buy a ton of meat because we harvest a lot from the land and sea.

How to spot a real estate agent worth referring in Southcentral Alaska

It’s not just about knowing the market or having a long list of closed transactions.

It’s about having someone who genuinely looks out for their clients.

Someone who knows when to negotiate repairs, when to take a closer look at an offer, when a property might have red flags, and when to be honest enough to say, “I know you love it, but I’m not sure this is the right home for you.”

When you refer someone to me, you’re trusting me with a relationship that matters to you. Whether it’s a friend, coworker, neighbor, or family member, I never take that trust for granted.

I call it the Wild Wild West out here in the Mat-Su Valley 🤠

Most builders here follow the International Residential Code (IRC) but there’s many DIYers out there who don’t.

This is across Palmer, Wasilla, Big Lake, Houston, Sutton, Talkeetna, etc. Anchorage DOES require permitting and that’s why it costs at least 2x as much to build in the Muni (and limited amounts of buildable land available).
