🚨 Planning to Move to Florida? Don't Overlook This Important Deadline! 🌴🏡

If approved by Florida voters in November 2026...
If you're planning to make Florida your permanent home, there's an important constitutional amendment on the November 2026 ballot that could affect your future property tax savings. If approved by voters, the changes would take effect on January 1, 2027.

✅ Moving to Florida Before December 31, 2026?
If the amendment passes, you may qualify for the full enhanced Homestead Exemption when you establish your Florida homestead.

To qualify, you should:
✔️ Obtain a Florida driver's license showing your Florida address.
✔️ Register to vote in Florida at that address.
✔️ Register at least one vehicle to your Florida residence.
✔️ Both owners must establish Florida residency and claim the property as their homesteaded primary residence.
✔️ Neither owner can be claiming a homestead or similar property tax exemption on another property in Florida or in another state.

⏳ Moving to Florida On or After January 1, 2027?
If the amendment passes, new Florida residents would initially qualify for a smaller homestead exemption. You would need to maintain your Florida residency and homestead before becoming eligible for the larger exemption in your fifth year.

🏡 If a move to Florida is in your future, timing could make a significant difference in your long-term property tax savings. If you're considering relocating before the end of 2026, now is the time to start planning.
