As a new construction specialist, one of the most common concerns I hear is:

"I love the home, but I'm not sure about backing up to another house."

For years I've lived in homes that backed up to wooded areas, but when I purchased my most recent new home, that wasn't an option. So I decided to tackle the same question many of my buyers ask:

Can you create your own backyard privacy?

I have very little gardening experience and absolutely no landscape design background. What I do have is a shovel, some determination, and a willingness to learn.

After getting HOA approval, I used AI to help brainstorm a design and started planting. It's still young and has a lot of growing to do, but I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out so far.

A few things I learned along the way:
✅ Moving boxes work great for suppressing grass and weeds and can save a lot of time removing sod.
✅ Check local garden centers for clearance plants. Sometimes you can find great deals, but make sure the plants are appropriate for our area and won't become invasive and will make it through winter.
✅ Converting irrigation to drip lines was much easier than I expected and only took a few minutes.
✅ If landscaping isn't your strength, AI can be a surprisingly useful tool for generating ideas and layouts.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this looks like in a few months once everything fills in and matures.
