A little piece of Panama City Beach history. 🔥

Back in 1959, the beach communities were growing fast, and so was the need for better fire protection. Long Beach had already formed one of the area’s first fire departments, while West Panama City Beach established its own fire district and purchased its first fire engine that same year.

It was one of the early steps toward the public safety system that helped support the growth of PCB for generations to come.

A view of Panama City Beach you definitely don’t see anymore. 👀🌴

In 1966, the 200-foot “Top O’ The Strip” observation tower opened at Miracle Strip Amusement Park, giving visitors incredible views of the Gulf and a much different PCB skyline. Back then, the beach was lined with classic motels, roadside attractions, and plenty of undeveloped coastline.
