Staying at the Cabin (Updated 2021)

Cabin Information:

Glen and Veda built the cabin with the dream that it would be a welcome place for all. When they lived there, the dream was easily realized. Now, however, Glen is gone and Veda’s time at the cabin is more difficult. For now, Veda will probably not be spending too much time there.

Veda is hoping, however, that family and friends will continue to use and enjoy the cabin.

In order to maintain the cabin, we (Veda’s family) are trying to develop a way for all to use the cabin. The following information, we hope, will help Veda’s family provide the cabin for family use for years to come.

1. Please choose a time to use the cabin by emailing a request to [email protected] or calling him at (808) 635-2050. Your name will be placed on the Facebook calendar and you will see who else might be there to enjoy. Glen will confirm by email and provide instructions regarding keys and other matters.

Check out the calendar at this website:

2. Contributing to cabin maintenance expenses:

a. Families with children and no additional guests may consider contributing an amount you feel comfortable to pay each night you stay. If you bring additional guests, we hope you will use your discretion regarding the contribution).

b. Singles over 18 should consider contributing $10.00 per person per night (we assume such a group will be those in college or otherwise starting out; we anticipate this would be situations where you want to bring a group of friends for a weekend).

c. If teenagers want to have a party, please identify an adult person who will be in charge.

d. Veda’s siblings who want to use the Cabin for family reunions please discuss with Veda.

e. If you don’t want to clean up, please consider leaving a little more and we’ll arrange to have the cabin cleaned after you leave.

f. Send a check to Veda at her new Lindon, Utah address: 76 South 900 East, Lindon,Utah 84042

3. Louis uses the downstairs (which has a separate kitchen) during the summers most weekends. If you plan to bring a group or would enjoy some family privacy, please let us know so we can let Louis know if he needs to vacate the cabin for that weekend. He wants to make this thing work, too.

4. Please remember to shut gates and to see if Uncle Dan and Uncle Louis need any help on the Ranch.

5. Bring your own food and only leave it if it won't spoil.

6. There are four king size beds, (counting Veda's bed) two full beds, two singles, one bunk-bed, and a few other sleepable places, besides the basement. You are welcome to use the sheets; but, please wash the same, make up clean beds, or make a "deal" with those coming after.

7. There is internet connectivity with some limitations.

8. There is no TV cable or satellite. You can bring DVDs.

9. There is a telephone in the cabin. Cell service may be available if you walk up to the top of the hill to the south ofthe cabin.

10. Please clean the bathrooms, kitchen, and sweep the floors before you leave. You should take the garbage with you since you cannot use the Whitebridge garbage receptacle. We suggest using the Panguitch town dump on the West side of town.

11. The upstairs bath/tub shower isn't sealed too well. When you shower, make sure the water is wiped off of the bathtub rim (you'll see how it puddles up).

12. The garage is not a good place for children.

13. We moved the firewood away from the south side of the cabin to keep rodents away. If you build a fire in the fireplace, please make sure the ashes are out (cool to the touch) before you leave.

14. Veda's bedroom is available upon request, as is the basement.

15. We are hoping family members will plan summer fun and contribute to the upkeep of the cabin. It is our experience that the ranch takes time to learn how to use and how to absorb the wonder of it. Don't get discouraged or too scared that this or that is off limits. Just use your discretion. Remember how Veda looks at things...."People are more important than things." Just the same, some "things" are more problematic than others, like a four-wheeler, which often need gas and specialized care, or horses.

16. The Veda Rule - while Veda is alive, she can change, modify, alter, revise, exceptor delete any of the above. Because she is an easy lover and wants association and closeness with family, lets try to make the love and "magic" she knows is at the ranch real. She will want the cabin to be used by those who love the Ranch or who need a place to get away for awhile and, hopefully, heal from some of the static that this world dishesup. She has turned the handling of the cabin over to Glen T. because she wants a peaceful old age and because he is familiar with her vision of the Ranch.

17. Finally, please leave suggestions and offer observations. We will work on good ideas and suggestions to make this work better for all.
