When I walk into a home, here’s what I’m paying attention to beyond the pretty photos:
-How much natural light each room gets, especially in main living areas
-Whether the layout makes sense for everyday routines and how you actually live
-Storage in spots people often forget to check, like coat closets, laundry rooms, and pantries
-Any unusual smells or signs of moisture—pay attention to what you notice right away
-Noise levels both inside and outside the home, from traffic to trains to neighbors
-How usable the yard is—flat, shaded, fenced, or a combination
-Parking and driveway space, particularly if you have multiple vehicles or kids
-Distance to the places you go most often, like schools, parks, shops, or your favorite coffee spot
Pretty kitchens are great, but these details are what make a home work for you.
