One of my favorite movies. All true and all based on this one man's faith.

Hacksaw Ridge tones down the heroism of Desmond Doss because Mel Gibson felt audiences would find it too hard to believe. After taking the brunt of a gr***de blast to save his fellow soldiers on Okinawa during World War II, Desmond Doss was left with 17 pieces of shrapnel stuck in him, an injury that's shown in the movie. He waited for five hours until fellow soldier Ralph Baker was able to reach him. Baker, along with several other men, carried Desmond on a litter through an intense enemy attack.

What's not shown is that as they were moving him, Desmond saw another soldier on the ground who was badly wounded. He rolled off the litter and crawled over to patch the man up. Desmond gave up his litter to the man. While waiting for help to come back, Desmond was wounded again, this time by a sniper's bullet that shattered his left arm. He fashioned a splint out of a rifle stock and crawled the remaining 300 yards under fire, eventually reaching the safety of an aid station. He was transported to the hospital ship Mercy.

What a blessing when someone asks for me to post something I've written. Terry Skip Laird, here is my Christmas poem.

The Spirit of Christmas is Yours

When you look at a candle and see the light
of the Christmas star that burned the night,
and in carols you hear the angels sing,
announcing the birth of Christ the King,
then you’ll know, my friend,
the Spirit of Christmas is yours.

When you look at the tree, but see the cross,
a signpost for the weak and lost,
and you look at the gifts but see the Babe,
sent to the world to seek and save,
then you’ll know, my friend,
the Spirit of Christmas is yours.

When you look in the mirror and see a man,
not good of himself or by the work of his hand,
but special and blessed by the love God has given,
allowed to choose between hell and heaven,
then you’ll know, my friend,
the Spirit of Christmas is yours.

Christmas is not just a celebration
of man’s humanity or peace among nations.
It’s an anniversary of pure love divine,
poured out freely on a world still blind.
May you see, my friend,
that the Spirit of Christmas is yours.

The world is a bit more like home. I lost this angel (on the left) in the Camp Fire. I had made her in a class taught by the extremely artistic and patient Pam Hal Funk. Recently I was able to contract with her daughter Carly Metroka, who's now creating beauty in Ever Wild Glassworks, to recreate my angel. Mine was in a wine colored dress and hers is in a green dress (I bought the glass - top right). If you look at the new angel in the light (bottom right) you can see that it perfectly captures the look of my original angel. Many thanks to Carly and Merry Christmas to all.

Hello, California. The market is hot! I'm not sure what is driving this since our economy still suffers the effects of COVID restrictions. However, I think we're just all wanting to "Move along" and what better way than buying a new home! Just meke sure that if the market crashes in a year, you will not be losing your new hone because you were planning on a refi to get you through.
