Final touches are underway at the new Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Henry/Carroll facility, with LIS crews laying out curb as the project wraps up.

The new facility will expand access to technical education and workforce training, helping prepare students for high-demand careers and supporting employers throughout the region.

L.I. Smith received an award Friday, Sept. 11 for their continued support of the National Guard.

The Patriotic Employer Award was presented by Terry Buckley (center) to Tommy Young, LIS Vice President of Surveying and Patrick Smith, LIS President. Buckley is the Tennessee Area Chair of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

L.I. Smith currently has four active-duty National Guard members: Nick Haberman, Michael Ilko, Tyler LaPointe and Austin Maxwell.

We’re proud to be recognized by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for supporting the men and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

This recognition means a lot to us, especially with four members of the LIS team currently deployed with the National Guard. We’re proud of the commitment they’ve made and grateful for the families supporting them while they serve.

Shoreline erosion can do a lot more damage than most people realize, and the video below is a great example of just how severe it can become.

At Paris Landing State Park, our team is designing improvements for approximately 8,400 feet of shoreline along Kentucky Lake.

Because every section of shoreline is different, the solution won’t look the same everywhere. Depending on the area, improvements may include native vegetation, large stone protection, concrete erosion-control systems, retaining walls, or repairs to existing seawalls.

The goal is to slow erosion, protect nearby roads and park facilities, preserve access to the lake, and create a stronger shoreline for years to come. We’re proud to be part of a project focused on protecting one of Tennessee’s most valued recreational areas for years to come.
