In the past, it's NOT that baby blues didn't exist, Mom, but...

1. It wasn't given a name → There was no term for "baby blues," so it was considered "just normal fatigue after giving birth."
2. It wasn't talked about → Talking about sadness after having a baby was taboo, for fear of being called "ungrateful."
3. The symptoms were considered normal → Constant crying was called "baby stuff," and irritability was called "lack of rest."

So, baby blues *has existed since our ancestors*, but it's just "visible" now.

5 Reasons Why It Seemed "Never Existed" in the Past:*

1. The Social System Was Very Different
*In the Past:*
- Home births were attended by many people: midwives, mothers, in-laws, and neighbors all helped for 40 days.
- Postpartum mothers' only job was breastfeeding and sleeping. Cooking, washing, and housework are handled by the whole village.
- A fussy baby is immediately handed over to grandma/aunt. Mom can sleep.
- A real "village" exists → The mental burden is shared.

Now...
- Giving birth in the hospital, coming home on the second day and being told to be independent.
- Husband works, Mom stays home alone with the baby, cleaning the house, and cooking.
- In-laws are far away, neighbors don't even know each other.
- *The burden is 100% on Mom's shoulders* → Yes, it's stressful.

2. Expectations of Mothers in the Past Were More Realistic
In the past, the standard for a "great mother" was that her child was alive and not hungry. That's it.
- Baby crying = normal, it's just a baby.
- Messy house = understandable after giving birth.
- Disheveled mother smells of breast milk = all mothers do that.

Now:
- IG is full of glowing mothers, slim 2 weeks after giving birth.
- Baby must gain weight according to the curve, sleep soundly, and not be dramatic.
- House must be shiny, cooking must be nutritious, husband must be served.
- *The standard is high* → Mothers constantly feel like failures.

3. Hormones Remain the Same, But the Stigma is Different*
80% of mothers experience baby blues because estrogen and progesterone levels plummet after giving birth, lack of sleep, and fatigue. This is biological, it's been like this since the Stone Age, but it's considered postpartum fatigue.

So, in conclusion, Mom...
Baby blues is *not a new disease*. It's been around forever. Just like in the past:
1. *Lots of social support* → Shared burden
2. *No social media* → No self-comparison
3. *Considered normal* → Allowed to be sad, no judgment
4. *No medical records* → So it's like "it doesn't exist"

*It's more visible now* because we're alone, have high standards, and understand mental health.

Stay strong, Mom, don't worry, this phase will end, just enjoy the process, stay strong 🥰🥰

PARENTING TIPS FOR BABIES 0-12 MONTHS - THE HASSLE-FREE VERSION 👶🫶

MAIN FORMULA: BREASTFEEDING + LOVE + STIMULATION = OPTIMAL GROWTH
No expensive parenting. These 3 are enough.

TIPS BY AGE

0-3 MONTHS = 4TH TRIMESTER PHASE
Mission: Make baby feel like they're "still in the tummy."
Skin-to-skin every day → Attach to your chest. Soothe and promote weight gain.
M-Shape carry → Legs spread like a frog, back in a C-shape. Don't squeeze.
Tummy time from newborn → 1 minute x 5 times a day. Prevent flatulence + strengthen the neck.
Don't panic when crying → Baby cries = talking. Check: hunger, diaper, sleepy, bored, sick.
Wake window 45-90 minutes → Staying awake too long = overtired = very fussy.

4-6 MONTHS = QUIET PHASE
Mission: Exercise muscles + sensory skills
Free hands → Remove swaddling when awake. Let them learn to roll over and reach for toys.
Read books every day → Even if they don't understand. 1000 words/day = prevent sp*ech delay.
Give hanging toys → Contrasting black, white, and red colors. Stimulate eyes and hands.
Invite them to look in the mirror → Babies love looking at faces. Good for bonding and self-awareness.
Prepare for solid food at 6 months → Signs: head held high, sitting supported, interested in food.

7-12 MONTHS = EXPLORER PHASE
Mission: Secure the house + give freedom
Babyproofing → Cover outlets, prop up cabinets, and keep cords away. They crawl = sit-set.
Let it get messy while eating → MPASI is sensory. Squeezing = smart.
3-word prohibitions are enough: Don't, Stop, Danger → Too many "no's" = child is afraid to explore.
Teach simple words → "Mama", "Mamam", "Dada". Respond if he babbles.
Sleep training gradually → Teach him to sleep alone at 6 months and above. Not mandatory, but good.

GOLDEN TIPS FOR ALL AGES

A. Feeding Rules = THE KEY TO GROWTH
0-6 months: Breastfeed on demand. No schedule. Crying = offer.
6-12 months: Breastfeeding remains the mainstay + MPASI increases in texture every month.
Feeding rules: It's your job to provide. The baby decides how much. Don't force it.

B. Sleeping Rules = THE KEY TO A MOTHER'S SANE
Differentiate between day and night since birth → Bright + noisy during the day, dark + quiet at night.
Sleep routine → Bath → massage → nenen → white noise → sleep.
You can sleep together as long as it's safe: the mattress is flat, don't use a thick blanket, you don't snore/get very sleepy.

C. Stimulation Rules = NO NEED FOR EXPENSIVE TOYS
Invite me to chat every time I change diapers → "You p*e, huh? It smells eekk"
Singing the same song over and over again → Baby's brain likes patterns.
Afternoon walk → Look at the leaves, hear the motorbike, touch the grass = free sensory.
Screen time = 0 before 2 years. HP/TV damages baby's brain.

D. Mom's Rule = SENSE FIRST, THEN PARENTING
Sleep when the baby sleeps → Leave the laundry piled up. Sleep > tidy house.
Ask for help → From your husband, in-laws, or the maid. Moms are not robots.
Don't compare children → Every baby's timeline is different. Some sit up at 6 months, some at 8 months.
Follow IDAI & Psychiatric Specialist (DSA) → Don't join random Facebook groups. There are lots of parenting hoaxes.

RED FLAG - GO TO A DSA IF:
3 months not holding their head up
6 months not rolling over and over
9 months not sitting up on their own
12 months not babbling "mama/papapa"
Weight stuck at 2 months / flat KMS line

THE BOTTOM LINE:
Parenting a baby = 80% response to needs, 20% stimulation.
Hungry → Full. Sleepy → Sleep. Bored → Play with your baby.

No need for a million classes. A responsive mother = the best toy for your baby.

Bonus: Hug 12 times a day. It's free, but the effect grows even after your baby grows up. It makes your child confident and less prone to tantrums.

When a child has a fever...
Many parents immediately panic 😥

But what often happens is this daily habit, unknowingly making the child even more uncomfortable👇

❌️ 1. "The important thing is to put a compress on the forehead"
You've applied it from morning to night... but the fever doesn't go down.

👉 Because the forehead isn't the main place for heat release.

✔️ Put a compress on the folds (armpits, neck, groin)
Because there are many large blood vessels there.
Heat escapes more quickly.

❌️ 2. Not bathing at all
Afraid "it'll get hotter."

👉 In fact, this actually traps heat and makes the child even more uncomfortable.

✔️ A warm bath helps widen blood vessels (vasodilation).
Heat escapes from the body more easily.

❌️ Cold compress/ice water
They think it will help reduce the fever quickly.

👉 Fact: Blood vessels actually constrict (vasoconstriction).
Heat is trapped inside the body and the child may shiver.

✔️ Use warm (lukewarm) water.
Help the body release heat naturally.

❌️ 4. Covering your child in thick blankets makes them sweat, even though...

👉 The heat can't escape, and it builds up.

✔️ Thin, loose clothing
Helps the heat evaporate from the skin.

❌️ 5. Taking Paracetamol regularly
Morning, noon, and evening
"Afraid the fever will rise again"

👉 Even though it's a fever-reducing medication, not a vitamin

✔️ Give it every 4-6 hours as needed
(≥38°C / child is uncomfortable) and according to the dosage.

❌️ 6. Not checking the temperature, just using your hand "it seems hot."

👉 This is often mishandled

✔️ Use a thermometer for objectivity.

❌️ 7. The child has a fever but is drinking little
Even though the body needs more fluids.

✔️ Give enough fluids (breast milk, formula, water)

❌️ 8. Panic too soon
Even though...

👉 Fever is the body's response to fighting infection, not always dangerous.

✔️ Assess your child's overall condition.

👉 Normal temperature: 36.5 - 37.5°C
👉 > 37.5°C = warm
👉 ≥38°C = fever

⚠️ Be alert and see a doctor if:
❗️ Infants over 3 months have a temperature of ≥38°C
❗️ Child is lethargic and refuses to drink
❗️ Seizures/fever that doesn't go down.

*Colic has actually been around for a long time, Mom, it just had a different name* 😅

Our grandmothers used to call it "sawan," "fussy at night," "uncomfortable child," or "possessed." So it's not new, but we just learned the name: *colic*.

*Why does it seem like "it didn't exist back then"?*

*1. The term "colic" didn't exist back then.*
Pediatric medicine only became popular and widespread in the last 30-40 years. In our grandmother's time, a baby who cried for 3 hours every night was called "just because a baby is." It didn't exist. Now there are clear criteria: *crying >3 hours/day, >3 days/week, >3 weeks = colic*.

*2. Mothers' lifestyles and diets are very different*
- *Back then*: Breastfeeding mothers ate vegetables, fish, and tempeh. Minimal MSG, coffee, cow's milk, and spicy/fatty foods. Babies' digestion was calmer. - *Now*: Trendy coffee with milk, seblak, spicy meatballs, cheese, ice cream. All affect breast milk. Cow's milk protein and caffeine cause bloating/gas in babies.
- *Modern formula*: More diverse, but many use cow's milk. 10-15% of babies are sensitive and develop colic. In the past, formula was rare, and most were exclusively breastfed.

*3. The environment is changing*
- *Pollution and cigarette smoke*: Make babies more sensitive. The air used to be clean.
- *Babies aren't being held enough*: In the past, babies were constantly held in cloth slings, skin-to-skin, and rocked naturally. The movement and cuddling soothed the stomach. Now, babies are more often in strollers or boxes.
- *Maternal stress*: Today's mothers multitask: work, housework, and social media. Stress hormones affect breast milk and make babies fussy. In the past, the focus was solely on babysitting.

*4. Now we're more aware and brave enough to talk about it.*
In the past, a fussy baby was considered a disgrace, like "the mother couldn't take care of her child." So we just kept quiet. Now we can Google it, ask in WhatsApp groups, or go to a pediatrician. So we hear about colic cases, even though the numbers remain the same: *1 in 5 babies suffer from colic*, from then until now.

*5. C-section births and antibiotics are on the rise*
Babies born by C-section don't receive the good bacteria from the birth canal. Then, if the mother/baby takes antibiotics, the good bacteria in the baby's intestines die. The intestines become easily bloated, which equates to colic. In the past, all births were natural, and antibiotics weren't readily given.

*So what exactly is colic?*
It's not a disease, Mom. It's just a term for *a healthy baby who cries uncontrollably for no apparent reason*. Usually due to:
1. The digestive system isn't mature yet → easily gassy
2. The nervous system can't filter stimuli yet → easily overwhelmed in the evening and night
3. Adapting to the outside world → the stomach is calm, so birth is a shock

The good news: *Colic will definitely resolve itself 100%* by 3-4 months. There are no long-term effects.

*Old-school tips that are still effective for colic:*
1. *M-shape carry + swing*: Like a grandmother's sling. Movement + hearing mom's heartbeat = the most effective colic remedy.
2. *Skin-to-skin*: Baby wearing only a diaper, pressed against mom's chest. The warmth reduces gas.
3. *Shhh sound/white noise*: Imitates the sounds in the womb.
4. *ILU massage*: Massage the stomach clockwise with Cessa Orange/telon oil.
5. *Mom, watch what you eat*: Cut back on cow's milk, cheese, coffee, chocolate, spicy foods, cabbage, and broccoli for 2 weeks. See the difference.

So it's not that colic is new, but we now understand more and know more about the triggers, Mom 😁😁

👶 Understanding Baby Body Language

Your little one can't talk yet, but their movements can tell you what they're feeling:

✊ Clenching fists = Hungry or stressed
👀 Rubbing eyes = Tired or sleepy
🤸 Arching back = Gas, reflux, or discomfort
🦶 Kicking legs quickly = Happy, excited, or wanting to play

Save this post for reference, Mom! 💖

🚫OLD PARENTAL MYTHS ABOUT BABIES THAT NEED TO BE CORRECTED❗️

I'M LEARNING SO THAT MY CHILD WON'T FALL A VICTIM OF THE OLD PARENTAL MYTH, IF I DON'T CARE FOR IT, WHO WILL?

Not everything that was once considered true is still relevant today. Science continues to evolve. Let's care for our babies with love and knowledge.

MYTHS AND FACTS

1️⃣ Hiccups caused by sticking paper to the forehead

❌️ False.
Hiccups occur due to diaphragm contractions, not the forehead.

Solution: Hold the baby upright after feeding and help burp.

2️⃣ Breast milk drops are applied to the eyes with discharge

❌️Not recommended.
Breast milk is not sterile after it is expressed and can worsen infections.

✅️Clean with sterile gauze and warm boiled water

3️⃣ Frequently carrying babies causes curvature of the spine

Fact:
Carrying babies in the correct position (M-shape legs) is actually good for pelvic development.

❌️What's dangerous is keeping the legs hanging straight for too long.

4️⃣ Just exposing a baby to the sun is enough.

❌️Not always safe.
Bilirubin levels should be monitored.

✅️See a healthcare professional if the jaundice spreads or the baby appears lethargic.

5️⃣ Frequently carrying babies can make them spoiled

❌️Not true.
Babies cry because they need a sense of security.

✅️Carrying actually helps bonding and emotional development.

6️⃣ Watery breast milk means it's not nutritious

❌️Myth. Breast milk does have a different texture at the beginning and end of a feeding, foremilk and hindmilk.

7️⃣ Babies under 6 months can eat bananas to gain weight quickly.

❌️Not recommended.
Complementary feedings should begin at 6 months (unless medically indicated).

8️⃣ Giving coffee or herbal concoctions to the navel

❌️Dangerous, can cause infection.
✅️Just keep it clean and dry.

9️⃣ Baby spitting up = cold

❌️Usually normal because the stomach is not yet mature.

🚨Be alert if the vomit sprays and the baby appears weak.

🔟 Babies under 1 year old can have honey

❌️Not recommended.

Risk of botulism (bacterial poisoning)

1️⃣1️⃣ If a baby cries at night, it means they're being disturbed by supernatural forces.

Fact:
Babies cry because of physical needs:
▪️Hunger
▪️Full diaper
▪️Gas/bloating
▪️Growth spurt
▪️Overstimulation

Not because of supernatural forces.
Respecting your parents doesn't mean turning a blind eye to knowledge. If you're not firm now, how long will the myths last? ❗️

The love of parents in the past was sincere.
But now we have more up-to-date knowledge.
Don't just pass on myths... pass on knowledge too.

WHY IS IT ESSENTIAL TO APPLY ICE WATER OR COLD WATER TO THE INJECTION SITE AFTER A CHILD IS IMMINIZED, NOT WARM WATER?

Because...
Ice water or ice cubes can relieve pain and reduce inflammation in the first 24-48 hours. Cold temperatures cause blood vessels to constrict (vasoconstriction), which limits blood flow to the injured area, thereby reducing swelling, bruising, and slowing tissue damage.

Main Benefits of Ice Compresses:
Reduces Swelling: Cold temperatures decrease blood flow to the injured area, preventing the accumulation of excess fluid that causes swelling.

Relieves Pain: The cold acts as a local anesthetic, which slows pain signals to the brain.

Reduces Inflammation: Helps limit the inflammatory response in the acute phase of injury.

Relieves Muscle Spasms: Helps relax tense or stiff muscles

"The baby's asleep...
but why is the mother still awake?

It's not because she's not tired.
It's because she's been everything all day
to her child, her husband, and all her responsibilities.

Nighttime is the only time
she can be herself again,
even if only for a moment.

Tomorrow morning, she'll wake up again
smiling again, strong again...
although secretly, the tiredness hasn't completely gone."

Stay healthy, great mothers 🤗
