Parents, you did it!

You got the dorm room is set up. The hugs never last long enough.

You spent the night at a hotel, said goodbye and started that long drive home.

You want to bring home warm feelings. Not tiny vampires looking for a warm body. 🧛

Bed bugs are great hitchhikers, and hotels, luggage and travel give them plenty of opportunities to tag along.

Rented Out Your House This Summer? 🏡🌊⚽ A Hamptons summer rental? A house down the Shore?

Hopefully your guests had a great time! But do you know what they left behind?

Bed bugs travel with people, bags and belongings, and after a summer of different guests coming and going, a little peace of mind can be a very good thing.

That’s a job for a beagle detective. 🕵️‍♂️🐶

A bed bug canine inspection can help determine whether any unwanted guests decided to extend their stay.

Parents, when that summer-camp trunk arrives back by UPS, don’t carry it straight upstairs and start unpacking on the bed.
Give it a quick bed bug check first.
Open it in the garage or outside. Check the seams, corners, zippers, folds and pockets of the trunk, duffel bags and backpacks. Clothing and bedding that can safely handle it should go directly into the dryer on high heat before being put away.
Bed bugs are excellent hitchhikers. They don’t care whether the camp, your child or your home is clean, they just need a ride.
And if someone starts waking up with unexplained bites, don’t brush them off as mosquitoes. Bites alone can’t tell you whether bed bugs are the cause. Schedule a canine inspection before a small problem becomes a much bigger one.

The bus pulls in. The kids come home. Hugs, tears, stories…and about 47 pounds of dirty laundry.

After the reunion and sharing of medals, there’s one more thing to do: Check everything coming home for bed bugs.

Duffel bags, backpacks, sleeping bags and clothing can all give bed bugs a ride home from camp. Take a few minutes to inspect bags and seams before everything heads upstairs.

And if you missed something—or a few days later somebody starts getting itchy—give me a call.
