Before business, there was tennis.

As an ATP-ranked tennis player, I learned lessons that still guide me today: stay focused after setbacks, show up even when you don’t feel like it, and trust that repetition turns into results. The court taught me discipline, resilience, and consistency. Those same principles now shape how I lead teams, make decisions, and build businesses. The game changed, but the fundamentals didn’t. What’s something from your past that still influences how you lead today?

You can’t build a strong business on a weak financial foundation.

The businesses that grow sustainably have clean books, clear reporting, healthy cash flow, and leaders who make decisions based on real numbers—not guesswork.

It may not be as exciting as closing the next deal, but it’s what makes the next deal possible.

When you look at your finances, do you feel confident or uncertain?

A strong foundation doesn’t just protect growth—it creates it.

Strategy gets the spotlight. Discipline gets the results.

I’ve seen brilliant plans fail and simple plans succeed for one reason: consistent ex*****on.

Vision shows you where to go. Discipline is doing the work when motivation fades—following up, reviewing the numbers, having the tough conversations, and staying committed to the process.

Growth happens when strategy and ex*****on work together, consistently over time.

What’s one habit that would make the biggest difference in your business if you did it consistently?

One of the best investments you can make is in mentorship.

The people who have impacted my career the most didn’t just give answers—they shared how they think, make decisions, solve problems, and lead through challenges.

That’s why mentorship matters. Strong leaders don’t keep knowledge to themselves. They develop others, create opportunities, and help the next generation grow faster.

Who is someone who helped shape your journey, and have you thanked them lately?

Structure sounds restrictive, but it’s actually what creates freedom.

When teams have clear priorities, accountability, measurable goals, and a consistent operating rhythm, the constant firefighting starts to disappear. People know what matters, who owns it, and how success is measured.

Great systems don’t limit growth—they enable it.

If your business feels reactive instead of intentional, it may be time to fix the system, not the people.

Most owners I meet don't have a numbers problem. They have a clarity problem.

A profit-and-loss statement that lands three weeks late can't inform a decision that's due today. So when I step in as a fractional CFO, the first work is rarely a new model. It's making the numbers you already have timely, clean, and readable.

Visibility isn't about more reporting. It's about reporting that changes what you do next: where the cash actually went, which jobs made money, and what next quarter looks like if nothing changes.

Clarity is what turns a financial statement into a decision.

What is the one number you wish you could see every Monday morning?

Last week in Atlanta, we had the opportunity to witness something truly inspiring at SkillsUSA.

The energy, talent, and dedication displayed by these students reinforced something we strongly believe at Capital City Roofing: the future of the skilled trades is bright. From roofing and construction to technology and leadership, the next generation is developing the skills that will continue building and strengthening our communities.

As our industry continues to grow, investing in workforce development and supporting organizations like SkillsUSA is more important than ever. We are excited to see these future professionals pursue careers that make a lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. The future is in good hands.

Many buyers are waiting for the “perfect” market or lower rates, but timing the market perfectly is nearly impossible. The reality? You can refinance a rate later, but you can’t always go back and buy the right property at the right price.

The market will continue to shift, and opportunities will come with it. The key is staying informed, prepared, and ready to act when the timing makes sense for you.
