Long before it became one of the most iconic sports venues in America, the Rose Bowl was built to give Pasadena's growing New Year's football tradition a permanent home.

Opened in 1922 and designed by architect Myron Hunt, the stadium was originally constructed with a horseshoe-shaped design inspired by the Yale Bowl. As its popularity grew, the open end was enclosed in 1928, creating the full bowl shape that would ultimately give the stadium its famous name.

Over the last century, the Rose Bowl has hosted legendary football games, World Cup matches, Olympic events, and unforgettable concerts, earning its nickname as "America's Stadium."
