🌿 Mindful Monday: Real Estate Edition

This is me at the beginning of the Billy Goat Trail.

Look at me. 😌
So confident.
So unsuspecting. 🙃

What you can't see in this picture is that I showed up without downloading the route, reading the description, or doing ANY actual research about what I was about to get myself into.

And somehow, I think there's a real estate lesson in there. 😂

Don't fall in love with the destination before you understand the journey.

Buying or selling a home can be exciting. It's easy to see the beautiful kitchen, imagine the backyard, or picture yourself at the closing table.

But there's a whole journey in between.

Know the market.
Know your numbers.
Understand the process.
Ask questions.

And—unlike me on that trail—read the instructions BEFORE you start. 😅

A good Realtor® isn't just there to help you get to the destination.

Truth be told, both books have been sitting on my shelf for quite some time. One of the gifts of being off for the summer is having the opportunity to finally dust them off, slow down, and really digest the lessons instead of just adding them to my "to read" list.

Whether I'm helping someone find a home, guiding a yoga practice, working toward my own fitness goals, or simply trying to become a better version of myself, I know lasting change doesn't usually happen overnight.

It happens one small habit at a time.

Today, I'm opening Atomic Habits, and Tiny Habits is next on my reading list. If you've read either book, I'd love to hear what resonated with you—without too many spoilers. 😊

My relationship with this young lady started when she enrolled into my Spanish class as a 9th grader. Now, she is a whole ADULT, doing grown up things and today I got to hand her the keys to her very first home. 🙏🏾 Words can't even describe the sense of pride that I feel on all counts.

This wasn't necessarily an "easy" transaction, but the team of people that I worked with sure made it feel that way.

From the lender, to the Seller's agent, and ESPECIALLY James Schroeder and his team at Community Title Network! Everytime I work with them on a transaction, the agents on the OTHER SIDE are always so impressed with them that they say they plan to use them in the future. He was my Settlement Officer when I bought my own home, and I'm still using him today, so you already know what I think. And of course, Lee Pop McCown, who not only found the condo in the first place, but also did the comps so that we could present a solid offer. 🫶🏽

Congrats to my buyer and to everyone that made her dream of home ownership a reality. Now that that's done, who's next???
