Senior AC Repair Assistance
Seniors 60+ are eligible for AC repair assistance up to $5000 from the Pinellas Opportunity Council
Already feeling the heat for the Florida summer? If you are a senior (age 60 and older) and you have an air conditioner that is need of some repairs the always amazing team at the Pinellas Opportunity Council can offer some help! From now through September 30th, the POC is offering funding assistance up to $5,000 per household to assist with these repairs! Make sure to review the guidelines below to be met to qualify for the program. THANK YOU to the POC for this incredible program for our seniors!!!
The following guidelines must be met:
• Must live in Pinellas County
• Must go though one of our vetted A/C vendors
• Must meet State Median Income Guidelines
• Must own their home (can’t live in an apartment setting), mobile home is fine
• There is no limit as to who can live in the household, as long as there is at least 1 senior age 60+ who can be listed as HOH and all the other above requirements are met
• If the cost of the repair is more than $5,000, then the senior will need to have the difference prior to POC’s assistance, i.e. if it costs $6,000 for repair, the senior will need to pay the a/c company the $1,000 up front prior to POC’s payment.
Seniors may apply two ways:
1. They can call our main line at 727-823-4101 ext. 110 and leave a message stating they are looking for a/c repair. Make sure they leave their name, number and zip code and a case worker will call them back to screen them for services.
2. They can apply online at www.poc-inc.org. If they do this, they should go under the Emergency Service tab and click on the online application. When completing the application, they will need to choose a service. They should choose electric services as the option, then at the end when it asks for comments, they should type in A/C repair.
