We at JMB’s Home & Safety Inspections, LLC pride ourselves on having integrity, being reliable and thorough.

We recently preformed an inspection for a buyer and during inspection of the basement area and crawl space, we came across a major foundation concern due to a combination of hydrostatic pressure from poor water drainage that was bulging and unconventional framing. We recommended further evaluation by an engineer or licensed foundation contractor. When we last spoke to our client, they had said that the home owners understood the severity and our client and their agent were able to negotiate down the listing price and hold repair cost in escrow in combination of close to $80k!

The holiday season is upon us. With that comes the cold weather and the increased use of heating systems and alternative heating sources such as space heaters and flame heating systems. A few tips for your home. 1. Make sure you have working and properly placed smoke and CO detectors in every area with a life hazard. This means installing in accordance with manufacture, NFPA, and local law. 2. Make sure you have at least one fire extinguisher on each level as well as one in the kitchen, the laundry room and one outside of the door of any heating equipment room.
