What raising my daughter in Georgetown, South Carolina taught me. 🌾

I didn’t expect the biggest lessons to come from marsh tides and slow porch mornings, but here we are. The best days rarely came from a packed schedule, honestly. Most of the growing up just happens outside, barefoot, no plans at all.

Salt air and boat rides fix more moods than a screen ever will. Living somewhere people actually know your kids names isn’t just charming either, it’s a kind of safety net you don’t realize you’re building until you need it.

There’s a version of life where the mornings are slow, the light is golden, and nobody’s in a hurry to get anywhere. Turns out it’s real, and it’s in Georgetown County, South Carolina. ☀️

The oaks are ready to shed their leaves for Fall. The marsh goes quiet in the early light, and somehow, everything just feels a little softer here, like the whole county collectively decided not to rush.

It’s a big part of why people come for a visit and start looking at listings by the end of the week.

10 things to do in Georgetown, South Carolina, from someone who walks these streets almost every day. 🌾

Some of my favorites are the obvious ones, Front Street shops, the Harborwalk at golden hour. Some you might not think of on your own, like a boat ride out to our lighthouse, or an afternoon wandering Hobcaw Barony. Either way, this town has a way of slowing you down in the best way.

If you’re ever passing through, save this for your visit. If you’re thinking about staying a while, even better.

Georgetown, South Carolina has a rhythm of its own, and this is exactly how I’d spend a Saturday here. ☕️🌊

It starts slow, with coffee at Brewed Awakening, then a wander through the Growers Market for the week’s flowers and produce. From there, a walk along Winyah Bay at East Bay Park before an afternoon of shopping Front Street’s little boutiques - Waterfront Books, Whimsy Roost, Sara & Beth Gifts, Cashlyn’s Boutique, and Black Mingo Outfitters, all within a few blocks of each other.

Dinner at Frank’s On Front overlooking the Sampit River, a scoop from Old Georgetown Creamery, and a nightcap at Positively Primeval to close it out.

This is the version of Georgetown County I want every future buyer to fall for before they ever look at a listing, because loving the town always comes first. 📍

They were very nice. They were also very much still there. 😂

Buyers need enough privacy to look around, ask questions and imagine themselves living in the home. That’s hard to do when the sellers are watching from their recliners.
