Georgia is as strong as her small towns. Her small towns, as strong as our families. Our families, as strong as the fathers. This is why I’m so thankful for my husband, Chris. He’s an amazing father to Taylor, Raegan, and Hunter.
When I was in high school, John Mayer sang,
"fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do”
I didn’t quite understand what he meant, but as a mom I do.
Being a father isn't just a title, it's about who you are. And who you are, leaves a legacy.
Every day, Chris tries to be the father that will pass on a bright future to our kids. For the past 17 years, I've seen him be the father a family needs.
Courageous, kind, sacrificial, resilient, and fearless.
He’s just a human, like every other dad. But in 60 years, Taylor, Raegan, and Hunter will remember who he was and how he loved.
I’m so proud of who he is.
He believes fatherhood is something worth waking up every day for. It's worth the pain of failure and worth the joy when you get it right. It's worth sacrificing for.
It's worth celebrating.
So, if you're a father like Chris - from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
If you've stepped up to be a father figure for a child, thank you.
Thank you for what you do, and thank you for who you are. Our town, our families, and the next generation literally depends on who you are as a father.
