UPDATE 1:45 p.m.

* Be advised that long lines are expected to continue at polling locations *

New information from Probate Judge Andrew Weathington:

- The first round of corrected paper ballots have arrived at affected polling locations.

- Corrected ballots will continue to arrive in 30- to 45-minute intervals for the remainder of the day.

- Polls will remain open until 9 p.m. You must be in line by 9 p.m. to vote. The following locations in Pell City are included: Boys & Girls Club (19th Street), Celebrations, Cropwell Baptist Church, and New Hope Baptist Church. Please see below for the complete list of affected polling locations.

- All ballots submitted before polling locations were instructed to cease distribution of the incorrect ballots will be counted.

"Many people have come together, and they are doing everything in their power to ensure the residents of St. Clair County are able to vote today," Weathington said. "We are grateful for your patience."

* Please be advised: The City has no involvement in the management of General Elections *

Information from 10 a.m.:

The City of Pell City can confirm that some ballots were printed incorrectly and do not include Statewide Amendment 1 or Local Amendment 1. These ballots were delivered to polling locations across St. Clair County for the General Election on Nov. 5, 2024.

No incorrect ballots will be issued for the remainder of the day. Probate Judge Weathington said he understands the voters' frustrations and asks for patience as his team works as quickly as possible to remedy this unfortunate situation.

All incorrect ballots are the result of a printing error by Electronic Systems & Software (ES&S). Neither Probate or Poll Workers are permitted to review the printed copies of the ballot until 7 a.m. on Election Day. This is when the issue was discovered.

Weathington said Secretary of State Wes Allen has been made aware and is actively working with St. Clair County and ES&S to remedy the problem as quickly as possible.
