🚨 How to Spot Early Signs of a Chimney Moisture Issue 🚨

Is your chimney ready for the upcoming season? Moisture can be a hidden threat, leading to serious damage if not addressed early. Here’s how to spot potential moisture issues before they become major problems:

1. Look for Stains
Check the walls around your fireplace and chimney for dark stains or discoloration. This could indicate water leaks.

2. Check for Efflorescence
White, powdery deposits on the outside of your chimney or fireplace may signal water seepage. This is known as efflorescence and occurs when moisture evaporates, leaving mineral deposits behind.

3. Inspect for Cracks
Examine the masonry for cracks or spalling (chipping, brick face popping or flaking). Moisture can cause the mortar to deteriorate and lead to structural issues.

4. Notice Mold or Mildew
