Reasons to unfollow me 👋🏻

I've been running The Closing Signing Service for 6 years, and I've learned something: not everyone is my client, and that's ok.

If you think a signing service is just "finding a notary," we're not a match. My team confirms the appointment, reviews the documents before and after, verifies the scanbacks and tracks the drop off. Placing the notary is the easy part.

If you think the cheapest notary and the best notary are the same person, I can't help you. I've seen too many closings fall apart over a $25 difference.

If a quote that grows with print fees, travel fees and re-sign fees doesn't bother you, we're not a match either. We charge one flat fee. What we quote is what you pay.

If you're ok with a signing service that underpays its notaries and takes 60 days to pay them, think about who's actually showing up to your closing table. The best notaries don't work for companies like that. Ours get paid fairly and on time, and that's why they pick up when we call.

And if you only call us when your regular notary bails, I'd rather earn the first call than the emergency call.

The signing you barely remember may be the one that comes back.

Months from now, someone could question a notarization you completed on what felt like a completely routine day.

By then, you may have handled hundreds of other signings.

Your memory may not be enough.

Your journal can be.

Standard 2.6 of the Notary Signing Agent Code of Conduct emphasizes recording every notarial act in a journal, even when state law does not require one.

That habit matters because a journal entry created at the table is a contemporaneous record.

It documents what happened while the details were still fresh.

Complete it in the signer’s presence. Keep it secure. Treat it with the same level of care you give the notarization itself.

Because a journal is not just another administrative step.

It is a record that can protect you long after the appointment is over.

Your value as a notary comes from having nothing to gain.

A family member asks you to notarize a document.

You trust them.
They trust you.
You know you would never do anything dishonest.

And that is exactly why Standard 3.1 matters.

This standard is not questioning your character. It is protecting your position.

A Notary Signing Agent must remain independent from the transaction. That means not being a party, not benefiting financially, and not being too closely connected to someone who does.

Because nobody reviewing the file later can verify your intentions.

They can only verify your position.

When the transaction involves you, your finances, or your family, the professional response is not to be extra careful.

It is to refer the assignment to another notary.

That protects the signer, the transaction, your commission, and the trust behind the notarization.
